Coaching certifications are mandated by Lacrosse Canada and we are required to comply to ensure proper insurance coverage, along with providing the best experience for our athletes. With all the new rule changes this year, there will be a mandatory 'update' session for all returning coaches to make sure everyone knows about the changes. Those sessions will be approximately 30-60 minutes via Zoom and will be scheduled just prior to the season starting. For any new coach or coaches that are moving up age categories, the updated coaching clinics from Lacrosse Canada must be taken, along with all supplemental sessions. Almost every aspect of coaching requirements are done online and can be done at your convenience, with the exception of the 'Core' and 'Technical/Tactical' sessions. These are scheduled by Lacrosse Canada and you must pre-register for them. There is also a $60 cost per session and if this is a deterrent, please contact your local Club and ask them about coaching clinic reimbursements. The complete list of coaching requirements is listed below, along with the registration link for Core and Tech/Tac sessions. Our athletes cannot enjoy this great game without your support, so please consider getting certified. Even if you just want to open gates during games or help out on the floor during practices, you need to be certified. Those coaching support positions can be the difference between a long, arduous season and a super enjoyable one that flies by!
